For 125 years, Franklin Field has served as the home of the Penn Quakers, ever since Penn won the first game played by a score of 40-0 over Swarthmore on Oct. 1, 1895. It is the oldest two-tiered football stadium in the country and the NCAA’s oldest, still operating, football stadium. Franklin Field has been the site of many firsts in college football. The first Army-Navy game at a neutral site was played there in 1899, the first radio broadcast in college football history happened there in 1922, and the first college football game broadcast on television also happened here in 1940. It has even starred on the silver screen, appearing in both Unbreakable and Invincible. With a capacity of over 52,000, Franklin Field is a unique place where you can enjoy football and take in an historic part of the city of Philadelphia all at the same time!
