Celebrate Commencement Weekend

Commencement is an action-packed weekend at Penn—a time of reflection, quality time with friends and family, and, of course, celebration!
Make the most of your time by visiting some of your favorites places, showing Mom and Dad around campus, and maybe even trying something new (in between ceremonies, of course). Congratulations, graduates!

Before welcoming your guests to town, take some time to catch up with friends. Meet for a quick lunch at Tortas Frontera to discuss your last hurrah campus weekend plans while enjoying Mexican delicacies from renowned Chef Rick Bayless. You know you’re going to miss their tortas, cazuelas, and that indulgent guacamole bar.

Commencement Weekend wouldn’t be complete without a campus tour. Of course you’re going to take Mom and Dad to see the Split Button and take photos by the LOVE sculpture. But you should also check out the Arthur Ross Gallery, an intimate exhibition space located right in the heart of campus. It’s free and open to the public from 12-5pm on weekends—and it’s located within the iconic Fisher Fine Arts Library, which has been ranked one of the top 25 most beautiful college libraries in the world.

The Penn Baccalaureate ceremony—along with many school ceremonies—is traditionally held on Sunday afternoon. Gather family for a pre- or post-ceremony meal at Beijing Restaurant, a campus favorite since 1988. Located at 37th and Spruce, Beijing serves authentic Chinese food made from scratch with wholesome ingredients. Take a stroll down Locust Walk (and memory lane) after your meal as you get ready for Commencement tomorrow morning.

They have something for the whole family, and you’ll want to make sure you have everything you need to take your Penn pride with you when you leave campus.
